MicroBlink’s PhotoMath is an app that makes solving maths equations as simple as taking a picture.  PhotoMath can solve math equations by scanning them through the device’s camera. The app then provides the steps to solve the captured equation. The developers of the app wanted to create a more useful and powerful calculator.

PhotoMath

The PhotoMath app has an enlarged  interface  so that the users have a centric approach to solve the equation on the device’s camera. The app just recognises the mathematical expressions and works out the answer and provides the necessary steps to solve them.  The app was developed to help children.Math being one of the harest subjects for most of the children.  It is limited to middle school level of maths. The PhotoMath app is available for at the Play Store.  The app is absolutely free.

Solve Equations using PhotoMath

The step-by-step approach provided by this wonder app seems to be magical to students.  It is specially beneficial to students who do not have tutors to help them with solving mathematical equations. Parents too can make use of the app to teach their children. The app uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to read the equation. It then calculates and provides the solution  within seconds. There is the red frame in the app that you have to use to capture the equation.

PhotoMath App Limitations

---

The app has certain limitations to read math problems. The app can read only printed text. Therefore handwritten notes cannot be read and solved using PhotoMath. Sometime the app mistakes the variable ‘X’ for multiplication symbol. Also there may sometimes be no spacing between two math problems that makes it difficult for the red frame to capture the problem precisely.

Whatsapp Finally Releases Its Voice Calling Feature On The Windows App ( best wearable, smart wearable gadgets, buy online wearable, smart watch /Techliveinfo.com)

Whatsapp’s free calling feature is a much talked about topic ever since its release a few months ago. First made available on Android, it made its way to the iOS App soon enough, leaving behind the Windows phone users. Now, their wait has finally ended, as they also get the voice calling feature on their devices.

The latest update on Whatsapp for Windows phones is version 2.12.60.0. It is available for Windows phones supporting Windows 8 and above. Along with the voice calling feature via VOIP, it also incorporates the ability to send audio files. The voice feature had been rolled out in May for Beta testers before making the final release.

Whatsapp released the calling feature on Android phones in the month of March 2015. The iOS and Blackberry 10 Apps received the feature by April 2015. It was only the Windows phone users who could not make or accept calls via this messaging App. The company had revealed earlier that Windows users will be receiving the update in April. The upcoming addition via a support team email was sent to the users to suggest that work was going on to release the feature. No specific timeframe was predicted back then.

With the Whatsapp calling feature, you can now call your friends and family absolutely free of cost. It does not matter if you are in another city or even another country. The internet connection on your phone is used to make the all instead of the voice minutes on your phones plan. It can be 2G, 3G, EDGE, 4G, or Wi-Fi. The data charges may apply as per you data plan.

The interface on the Windows phone is similar to the one on Android for making the regular calls. Whatsapp previously had the feature of allowing users to make normal voice calls through the App. The latest version released Whatsapp’s own calling feature.

Whatsapp has made it clear that users will not be able to access 911 and other emergency numbers via the calling feature.

So, if you are a Windows phone user and you have not yet used the calling feature, it is high time you download the update and start calling on Whatsapp. Log on to the Windows Phone Store and get the latest version of Whatsapp.

The clarity and effectiveness of the call depends on your internet connectivity and speed. VOIP calls depend on this one factor to a great extent. If you have an appreciable network connection, you are good to go.

Along with the good news for Windows phone users, Android users also have something to get excited about. The new feature on Android phones will allow the users to do an app-wide search. This means that the users will be able to search all the content on the app, including the chats. Until now, the search option only filtered the contacts.

LGBT Health Issues Can Now Be Addressed Via " The Pride Study " ( best wearable, smart wearable gadgets, buy online wearable, smart watch /Techliveinfo.com)

A new study is being launched by a team of researchers with an all-new app exclusively to address the health and wellness issues of those falling in the LGBT category. Developed by the University of California at San Francisco, this new ResearchKit app called The Pride Study will survey a number of LGBT people about the different kinds of health issues faced like smoking, obesity, cancer, depression, mental issues, HIV/AIDS, and so on.

The ResearchKit framework is an open-source one which was launched during Apple’s “Spring Forward” event held in March 2015. It has already been put in to use to develop Apps that conduct researched in various diseases like cancer, asthma, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and cardiovascular diseases by using the information collected via user surveys and the iPhone sensors.

ResearchKit has been called as “perhaps the most profound change and positive impact the iPhone will make on our health” by Tim Cook, Apple CEO. The study is called “PRIDE Study”, and it is meant to shed some light on the health needs exclusively related to the LGBT community.

The co-director of the PRIDE Study at UCSF, Mitchell Lunn, said,” The main question there is, what is the relationship between being LGBTQ or more broadly a sexual or gender minority person and mental and physical health.” A UCSF nephrologist, Lunn hopes that the study will be able to emerge successful in its attempt to address the health concerns of the transgender and bisexual people, which is usually an understudied part of the LGBT community.

“Ideally we would like to get tens of thousands of participants and follow people for decades, something like 30 years. The goal is to figure out how being a sexual or gender minority influences physical or mental health.”

All researchers are quite positive about the vast potential that lies in the concept of tapping and studying the large user base for the iPhone. This will help gather enough vital information to actually achieve the goals.

It is not an easy task to get people to voluntarily sign up for a medical test or get them to come to the clinics for this purpose. Most of them would be disinterested in undergoing such studies. They refuse all such things out of fear that they may be discriminated against. This makes the study a very tough one. With the iPhone app, it is easier to get people to sign up on it and submit their information on their phones from wherever they want. This saves them a lot of time and effort. It is a very delicate topic that needs to be addressed with that fact in mind.

The Pride Study also plans to take a survey to ask the people which health topics and concerns regarding the LGBT community they would like to study and address. User feedback will be appreciated in all steps. Using this feedback, the researchers at UCSF will be able to compile the requirements of the users and create the final survey questions.

New Technology Smartphone for Visually Challenged People ( best wearable, smart wearable gadgets, buy online wearable, smart watch /Techliveinfo.com)

The Smartphones are becoming one of the essential parts of our daily activities. Irrespective of the user’s age group, these devices are really doing their potential benefits to them. But, you know well, with closed eyes, it is impossible to work smoothly with Smartphones. If this is the condition, we are socially missing one specific group of peoples, without tasting the benefits of the Smartphones, none other than Visually Challenged. More rapidly, this is going to be a history, because, Scientists are involved in the process of designing a Smartphone that works fine with the visually challenged people.

Smartphone for Visually Challenged People:

This really sounds great and totally impressive tagline, isn’t it?  Scientists are developing a newbie and adaptive technology enabled Smartphone for Visually Challenged people, which help them to “see” through their tablet or mobile indeed. This exclusive test made is possible with the latest technology termed as “Smart Vision System”. This humanity & creative research are done by computer vision and machine learning system specialists from the University of Lincon, UK. Interestingly, this research is funded by Google Faculty Research Award to help the people with visual problems.

Color & Depth Sensor Technology:

This groundwork is effectively calculated based on the assistive technology conducted by the Lincoln Centre for the Autonomous System. This team is in the plan of using the Color and Depth sensor within the Smartphone. This helps the people to navigate through the Smartphone using the 3D mapping and localization followed by object recognition as well. The process of user interface, either by vibration or user spoken word are under progress by the team.

About this project, i.e. Smartphone for Visually Challenged People, an expert from the Lincon School of Computer Science Dr. Nicola Bellotto, specialized in Machine perception and human-centred robotics stated that, “This project will build on our previous research to create an interface that can be used to help people with visual impairments,” Though there are several advanced technologies are being existed in these days for the helping of visually challenged people, from guided dogs to cameras, one of the major real time problems existed with them are acceptability followed by usability.

As of the current technologies, the helping stuffs used by visually challenged people needs an additional gadget to make them feel self conscious naturally. This extra equipment makes the difference in the usability and this case is ruled over with the Technology Smartphone for Visually Challenged People project.

There are several new apps are being developed for the process of helping the visually challenged people to recognize an object or help them to speak about it accordingly. As of now, none of these kinds of Smartphone sensors are being fully subjugated. Dr. Bellotte added that, “We aim to create a system with ‘human-in-the-loop’ that provides better localization relevant to visually impaired users and, most importantly, that understands how people observe and recognize particular features of their environment,”.

Bottom Line:

The key aspect of the Smartphone for Visually Challenged People project is that, it has to adapt the individual user experience for the better guidance of the same. Interestingly, it is the project of learning peoples from peoples (say, Visually Challenged). Let us welcome and pray for this advanced technology enabled Smartphones for the better kind of humanity!
