Ily is a smart device that lets you communicate with family members personally. New York based startup Insensi created a brand new connected device for homes as well as for smartphone app. The all-in-one communication box is a new take on technology and does a few things really well. It makes sense of family members from the kids to grandparents.

The CEO wanted to design a device to stay in touch with family members as he realized it was hard to communicate with his kids during his travel. He further wanted to design a device that was also easy and safe to use. He also wanted the device to reduce the friction to communicate with long distance family members. Ily is a communication device that can be set up in the kitchen or living room. Ily is not a tablet and its not a mobile device that you can carry around your home.

What makes Ily different?
Unlike FaceTime, it works on both Android and iOS, contrasting to Skype you don’t need to sign in to become reachable. These mobile apps will be particularly useful when you want to share photos as well. It creates a simple family photo stream so that grandparents can see their grandchildren for example. With the Ily mobile apps, you can upload photos to this stream directly from your phone.

The smart home phone takes advantage of your internet connection. It also comes with VoIP functions. You can call a regular phone using Ily. There is a special landline port so that you can replace your landline phone with Ily.
Ily – Stay in Touch
The device runs on an Android fork called Family OS. This version of Android comes mainly with communication features. The device is exclusively meant for communication and hence you can’t browse the web or play games on it. Along with photo stream, it comes with a music app so that kids can play music without having to borrow your phone.
There is also a feed of everything that happened on Ily. You may keep track of your kids activities.

Cost & Availability
Ily comes with a price tag of $200. The mobile app will however be free and you need not have the communication device to start using the app. Pre-orders are taken on the company’s website.
