Samsung has finally launched its Galaxy S6 Active smartphone officially after several rumors. It is to be available exclusively in theUS on AT&T. The Korean flagship’s element-defying version got revealed as an AT&T exclusive in the country.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 active is to go on sale starting June 12 in Camo Blue, Camo White or Gray colors. It is via the AT&T website or the company’s retail store you can buy the Galaxy S6 active. While the handset’s price is still not revealed by Samsung, it did mention about installment plans of the device. You can get the device for $0 down payment on AT&T Next for $23.17 with 30 device payments on Next 24 per month, $28.96 per month at 24 payments on Next 18, or $34.75 per month at 20 payments on Next 12. Whether the device is to be available outside US is still not revealed.
AT&T, as a limited promotion is to offer its customers with couple of deals on buying the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. One such deal is to give customers free Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 along with the smartphone on willing to sign a two-year agreement or the Samsung Wireless Charging Pad can be bought along for 50% off with the Galaxy S6 active.
The Galaxy S6 Active Specifications
To look at Galaxy S6 Active’s specs, the device is to resemble its original flagship in its specifications except for that it sports additionally an IP68 rating – making it dust proof, water resistant and shock resistant. On submerging the device to up to 1.5 meters for about 30 minutes is not going to harm the device. It also gets US Mil-STD-810G-certified protection making it good in withstanding temperature extremes, vibration, high altitude and humidity. What is lacking in this Galaxy S6 Active is that it misses out thefingerprint sensor that got highlighted at the home button of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices. A 5.1 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display is housed in the device that gets 1440×2560 pixels resolution with 577ppi pixel density. The device running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop gets powered by the Exynos 7420 processor, Samsung’s octa-core 64-bit processor.
The Galaxy S6 Active sports a LED flash 16-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera. Though not confirmed by the company, the device is expected to feature some of camera features like tracking AF, quick launch, f/1.9, auto real-time HDR, low light video, IR detect white balance, virtual shot, fast motion, selective focus, slow motion and pro mode.
Regrettably, rumors regarding a microSD card slot for Galaxy S6 Active turned out to be false and it just gets 32GB of internal storage. To talk about its battery, the device gets a 3,500 mAh battery that is believed to have a 40% increase in capacity substantially with built-in wireless charging and ultra Power saving mode. The battery comes with fast charging technology.
Not just the above, the handset comes with the Samsung Knox security framework pre-installed in it and also with some “Activity Zone” features like flashlight, quick launching compass, stopwatch and more.
According to Samsung Electronics America’s President, COO & Mobile Division GM, Tim Baxter, the Galaxy S6 active is to deliver consumers high durability along with powerful performance. He also mentioned at the launch event that this Galaxy S6 Active is to empower consumers and business users of Samsung with a handset that makes them do more.
